| Not cricket, though
Drama unfolds at the cusp of impossible situation and improbable challenge. The plot is multi-dimensional, throwing light into the mind of the performers. Among sporting games, cricket alone has the capacity to hold a mirror to the intricacies of life. It is a microcosm of the society that it belongs to. That is why a C L R James was able to trace and picture the sociological history of the Caribbean islands through the prism of cricket. Football, howsoever universal maybe its appeal, couldn't have afforded him that opportunity. Cricket always provides a canvas to mount something bigger than the obvious picture. That is why it lent itself to sublime verse. Alas, the Twenty20, the latest offspring of the avuncular game, seems precisely to rob the quintessence of the game.

He also held a replica gun to a female staff member's head during his final robbery, at the Davoren Park IGA supermarket. Taylor was arrested in January 2006 and has been in custody since. Judge Smith said Taylor had endured a troubled upbringing and suffered "parlous" mental health problems because of his chronic drug and alcohol addictions. He said Taylor had given psychologists conflicting explanations for his offending. "In the end, what you said during the Hindmarsh robbery is probably correct - that you needed the money for drugs," Judge Smith said.

PORTLAND, Maine, Feb. 10 (UPI) -- Barack Obama Sunday appeared to be heading to a weekend sweep of Democratic presidential nominating contests over rival Hillary Clinton. The senator from Illinois was leading his colleague from New York 58 percent to 42 percent, with 59 percent of the state's caucuses reporting, the Portland Press Herald reported. Despite a snow storm, more than 27,000 Maine Democrats made their way to caucuses. About 17,000 Maine Democrats caucused in 2004, the newspaper said. "I'm surprised the turnout is this high," said Arden Manning, executive director of the Maine Democratic party. The high turnout was causing long delays in some areas and final results were not expected until 11 p.m. EST. Obama and Clinton are running a close race in the campaign for the Democratic nomination.

And No. 2, whether you close in spring training or whether you pitch the fifth inning. You're going to get the same amount of work, so we don't really have to change anything but the inning the particular pitcher pitches." Wood and Howry are scheduled to work an inning apiece Saturday in Tempe when the Cubs play the Los Angeles Angels. Ramirez out Aramis Ramirez was scratched from Friday's game at HoHoKam Park with shoulder soreness, and his return is unknown. "We have plenty of games," Piniella said. "When he's ready to go, we'll put him out there." Ramirez said he had the same problem early last spring. "I don't know what's up with that," he said. "Maybe I don't do the same kind of throwing here I do in the Dominican.
Roses ānā Razzies

There to help the residents keep warm, fed and safe and dig out were scores of volunteers. The Oregon National Guard's 1249th Engineer Battalion and the 142nd Civil Engineering Squadron sent, according to their own press release, "nearly three dozen citizen-soldiers and airmen with heavy equipment to the cities in eastern Marion County along U.S.

The Mexican government vs. you
He had mental problems, which did not prevent him from acquiring his weapon. In Kirkwood, Mo., a gunman, upset with civic leaders, stormed City Hall during a council meeting and killed two policemen and three others before lawmen fatally shot him.On Feb. 15, one did make the front page. THQ oils up Big Beach Sports
THQ has made a major push onto Nintendo's hot-commodity console the Wii in recent weeks. Two Thursdays ago, the publisher debuted its combative music rhythm game Band Mashups, where players arm themselves with sniper violins and flame-throwing guitars to best their opponents and change up the music style. Last Thursday, THQ continued to attack the underbelly of the Wii with the creepy-crawler action game Deadly Creatures. Today, THQ said it would be adding yet another title exclusively to the Wii's library with Big Beach Sports. Slated for a global release in summer 2008, Big Beach Sports plans to bring fun in the sun indoors with a variety of sand-friendly physical minigames. Aiming squarely at the casual Wii-gaming crowd, Big Beach Sports will include football, volleyball, soccer, cricket, disc golf, and bocce.
Grocer stew thickens
Aldi enters a Florida food market fighting to stabilize as Wal-Mart continues to challenge the traditional four big players and feisty natural/gourmet food retailers try to pick off more high-end shoppers. Aldi most directly challenges Save-A-Lot, another limited-service, no-frills grocer owned by SuperValu Retail Inc., the nation's fifth-largest food retailer, that attracts less than 3 percent of bay area food dollars. Expect only the basics at Aldi. There's no live lobster tank, or fresh seafood for that matter. There are packaged deli products, baked goods and meats, but no butcher or slicer for custom orders. The produce lineup is an old-school 50 items, so don't ask where they hid the star fruit. While the 1,300 products (equal to the food selection at Costco) are one brand and usually come in one size, Aldi avoids the bulk volume sizes.
Four hurt in French Valley plane crash
My mechanic friend noticed and then made a major communication effort to try to contact as many pilots and owners as possible to urge them to change to synthetic oil which didn't break down like regular oil at the higher heat ranges that occurred due to the slower air speed conditions and the crashes pretty much quit happening altogether. Incidentally, I've seen statistics that say horses are the No. 1 most dangerous mode of transportation and air travel is the safest when factoring in miles traveled. Highway travel was the next most dangerous after horses. It's a fact, however, that sooner or later we don't get out of this life alive, so I'd rather get out and go than sit around and wait. Have a nice day! GetaLife wrote on Feb 27, 2008 3:31 PM:I always laugh when people buy a house near a road, freeway and in this case an airport and then complain about the noise and want it go away.
